Straight out of the buzzing streets of Mercedes, Soriano, Uruguay, Ghume, aka Guzmán Nuñez, is the new firestorm in the electronic music world. That spark for electronic beats started young, with a kaleidoscope of sounds streaming in from his older brother Germán, and it stuck.

By 14, Ghume was already spinning tracks in local venues, that early hustle set the foundation for everything that followed. Now based in Montevideo, he's been quietly building a rep as one of Uruguay’s most exciting producers.

Intense Vibes and Killer Grooves

Ghume’s productions live in that sweet spot between Progressive House and Deep House, melodic enough to stir emotion, but grounded in grooves that keep the dancefloor locked in. His tracks often build slowly, layering airy pads, textured percussion, and deep basslines until they bloom into hypnotic, flowing journeys. There’s a cinematic quality to his arrangements, with subtle shifts and evolving melodies that reward close listening just as much as they move a crowd.

Whether it’s a peak-time club cut or a sunrise-ready deep roller, Ghume leans into mood and atmosphere, crafting tracks that feel immersive from the first beat to the last.

Making Waves with "Natural Selection"

Ghume isn’t just surfing around, he’s steadily building serious momentum in the Uruguayan electronic scene.

He’s been reliably dropping his monthly (now bi-monthly) podcast, Natural Selection, where he not only serves up his own signature deep and progressive picks but also invites guest artists who complement his vibe. For instance, Episode 67, released on June 28, 2025, features a rich mix of progressive house vibes, like Tom Demac’s “Serenade”, Gres A’s “Skye”, and Stellar Fountain’s remix of Veeco’s “Passing Away”.

Earlier, Episode 55, aired on June 30, 2024, spotlighted Jhonatan Ghersi, a respected figure in the organic house scene. These episodes show how Ghume uses the podcast as musical storytelling, drawing on his favorites while introducing his audience to new rhythms.

Spotlight on Ghume: The Artist You Can't Ignore

Ghume’s music carries a distinct personality, shaped by diverse influences and a talent for creating tracks that leave a lasting mark. There’s something hypnotic about the way he layers melodic depth over rhythmic drive, whether in a charged club set, one of his immersive podcast mixes, or a freshly dropped track.

His debut EP, La Piedra Mamut, remains a landmark moment, rich atmospheres, pounding percussion, and melodic tension all working together to announce his arrival. In 2025, he's built on that momentum with two standout releases that show just how much ground he’s covering. In June he dropped Fields of Pansy, a tight three-track single that includes both originals and a remix. A few months later he followed it with The Perfect Fail, a single that’s atmospheric and cut with poignant, cinematic edge. Those tracks feel like statements, snapshots of where his sound is going.

Live, he’s holding steady in Montevideo’s underground scene, playing venues where every pulse, every shift in the mix, lands visceral and immediate. This year’s momentum feels deliberate and grounded, the result of consistent work that’s setting him up for a long and solid run in the scene.
